Oneonta/SUNY
College in the Catskills
SUNY College Graduation, VH1 and Mi5 Recordings! Thousands of people turned
up in Oneonta New York to participate in the Mi5 Recordings/Vines one year
anniversary/Graduation party. We have to thank the BanJo Radio Group for
all their help. Especially Jim Johnson, Clive Griffiths and James Gandolfini,
the town of Oneonta, everyone working sound and all the bands that played!
VH1 had a camera on the Mi5 crew for almost 2 days so I am sure we will
see some silly behavior. 2 shows one during the day, Troop 47, the Drakes
and the Mi5 line up of John Kruth, Mercyside, John and Mary from 10,000
Maniacs and the Blue Mockingbirds. At night in Vines an acoustic version
took place to a packed house, with the same line up. The show was organized
by Ted Mason and Clive Griffiths originally to celebrate the one year anniversary
of James Gandolfini and Clives restaurant, Vines. But we got the city ordinance
to shut down main street, put up a stage and the rest was fun! |

Diminishing
Perspective - Rock Musical
Scott Kuchler, Fluxedo Junction and Mi5 Recordings have announced plans
to unveil a rock musical titled "Diminishing Perspective". The
piece, originally written as a screenplay in 1967 and only recently rediscovered,
is a rock musical featuring lyrics by Barry Dennen and music by Murray
Head.
"Diminishing Perspective" was unearthed last year when Fluxedo Junction
began working with actor Barry Dennen - known to many for his performance as
Pontious Pilate in Andrew Lloyd Webber's and Tim Rice's classic "Jesus Christ
Superstar". "I was having lunch with (Fluxedo Junction founder) Scott
Kuchler one day, and I happened to mention this project that I had begun over
30 years ago. It was abandoned right after Murray and I signed on to do "Superstar." When
Scott asked if it still existed in any format, I dug into my archives and found
not only the screenplay, but also the original demos that we recorded for the
project - 8 songs in all with Murray singing and accompanying himself on acoustic
guitar."
In addition to planning a stage adaptation for 2003, work is also underway
to release a CD of all 8 songs, with the possibility of new material being
written and recorded as well.
